Michael Beale has been branded "delusional" over his comments after Sunday's Rangers verus Celtic match.

That's the viewpoint of former Hoops fans' favourite Peter Grant.

The ex-Dunfermline and Alloa manager believes the Ibrox boss was way off with his assessment of the match, which ended 1-0 to Celtic.

Grant told Go Radio's Football Show: "I don't like criticising managers but I think he is delusional on what he's just said there.

"I couldn't find Rangers putting two or three passes together. Once they got to the 18-yard box they ran out of ideas.

"I can't remember the centre-backs passing into the middle of the pitch, maybe once.

"Callum McGregor and Celtic were playing out of tight areas under pressure.

"If I am going in there as a Rangers manager I am putting Celtic under so much pressure, not allowing them to drop off and get a pass, although that was maybe a tactic.

"But see that noise that was building up before that game, you've got to get a shot in, get a cross in, get a tackle in. Rangers did none of them.

"For a manager to say they were probably the better side and talk about the chances, what about the chances Celtic had?

"I don't like to be critical of managers but that interview was delusional if he thought that."

Meanwhile, Celtic hero Tom Boyd has detailed the importance of the Parkhead club continuing their momentum after the recent victory over Rangers.

The Hoops are currently top of the Scottish Premiership on goal difference and have a Champions League campaign to look forward to after the international break.

And while Boyd was delighted with the recent result, he feels it is vital that Brendan Rodgers' side do not rest on their laurels.

Speaking to the BBC, he said: "It’s big, but it’s only big if you win your next game.

"Beating Rangers gives you the bragging rights and everybody wants to win that because there’s not another game for a couple of weeks.

"You can see the reaction from the opposition supporters to the management and I’m sure Brendan would have got that if he lost, so you’ve got all that off your back for a few moments and you’re sitting comfortably."
