Brendan Rodgers will be aiming to take a massive stride towards securing European football after Christmas this midweek.

Celtic take on Lazio in their second Champions League group stage match of the season.

The Hoops went down 2-0 in Rotterdam a fortnight ago as the Dutch champions taught the Hoops a harsh lesson on the night.

The Scottish champions are back on home soil on matchday two though, and they will fancy their chances of getting some points on the board.

If Celtic are to maintain European football heading into 2024, then a victory in this one looks to be vital.

Here are all of the details you need to know ahead of this game...

Team news

Celtic duo Gustaf Lagerbielke and Odin Thiago Holm are suspended for this one having both picked up red cards against Feyenoord in their last European game.

It is expected that Nat Phillips will fill in at defence alongside Liam Scales.

Joe Hart is almost certain to return between the sticks having served a domestic suspension against Motherwell at the weekend, with Scott Bain deputising.

Celtic are still without Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liel Abada, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh through injury.

Despite suffering a broken nose recently, it is expected that defender Alessio Romagnoli will play for Lazio. He will wear a protective face mask.

Ciro Immobile was limited to time off the bench against AC Milan after a recent knock, but he should be fine to start this match.
