Atletico Madrid are highly unlikely to make another move for Celtic's Matt O'Riley this January, according to a report.

The 23-year-old has been the subject of serious transfer interest from the Spanish giants this month.

Earlier this week the La Liga outfit submitted a loan offer with an obligation to buy the attacking midfielder in the summer for a fee of around £19.6m.

However, this was swiftly rejected by the Scottish champions, with Brendan Rodgers confirming in his weekly press conference that O'Riley was not for sale.

The player has been a crucial figure under Rodgers this season. He's made a total of 22 goal contributions in 29 matches this term so far.

This has led to serious interest from not only Atletico but Inter Milan and Leicester City as well.

However, it seems Celtic supporters can rest easy that O'Riley will be staying put in Glasgow for the time being.

Speaking to Caught Offside, Matteo Moretto has revealed that Atletico Madrid are unlikely to be back with an improved offer for O’Riley until at least the summer.

If they are to sign O’Riley, it would require the departure of another midfielder in order to make room.

Meanwhile, Cameron Carter-Vickers has committed his future to Celtic.

The 26-year-old has signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract to remain at Celtic Park until the summer of 2029.

The American international has impressed greatly during his time in Glasgow. He initially joined on a season-long loan from Tottenham in 2021 under Ange Postecoglou.

However, a year later this was turned into a permanent transfer, with the club tying him down on a four-year deal.

His form has led to interest in his services though, and so, Celtic have made the move to improve his terms and get him on a longer deal.

Currently out with a hamstring injury, to date, Carter-Vickers has made 101 appearances for the Hoops.
