Rangers manager Philippe Clement appeared to invite Celtic hero Scott Brown for a drink inside Ibrox after the Scottish Cup tie against Ayr.

The Rangers boss chatted with Ayr manager Brown ahead of kick-off this evening.

And footage shared on Viaplay Sports showed Clement motion to Brown he was to join him for a drink after the match.

It is not uncommon for managers to meet after matches and Clement overlooked Brown's previous Celtic connections to offer the invitation to the Ayr boss.

The pair had exchanged cheeky messages ahead of the fixture but refused to be drawn into a war of words ahead of the Scottish Cup meeting.

Clement said: "I read that he loves Rangers. I love all the people that love Rangers.

"That can be really, really good between us also on the sidelines."

But on Rangers TV, Clement added: "I'm looking forward to the weekend fixture, yeah, of course.

"Again it is a challenge in a competition where it is in or out, against a manager that doesn't really like Rangers.

"So it is going to be an interesting game to play."

Brown had earlier in the week stated he had "a lot of love for Rangers" in a smirky response to a question on the trip to Ibrox.

“That’s alright, he can say what he wants. For me, that is up to him whatever he talks about.

“I’ll not disrespect other managers. Yes, I have had a career on the other side of Glasgow at Celtic.

"Obviously, people put two and two together. But for me that was a long time ago and this is my main focus. For me, it is more about me taking my team.”
