Neil McCann has noted a key difference between Rangers and Celtic in the Premiership title race.

The former Ibrox winger believes the Gers faithful are showing more patience with their team at this moment, while those of a green and white persuasion across the city are not.

Philippe Clement's side last night went level of points with the Hoops at the top of the table. They defeated Ross County 3-1 on home soil thanks to a double from Cyriel Dessers and one from John Souttar.

Had Rangers scored another goal then they would've leapfrogged Celtic at the summit of the league.

And while that is a missed opportunity, McCann was pleased to hear the vast majority of the Ibrox crowd stick with the team last night, even when Simon Murray equalised for the Staggies when the hosts were totally dominant.

He compared that sort of atmosphere to that of arch-rivals Celtic, where moans and groans have been heard despite the champions winning eight of their last nine games.

The pundit told BBC Sportscene: “The one thing I would like to point out is that a fanbase can be a real powerhouse but they can also be a real weakness and I think the fans are showing a real true form of support because so often - even when I was playing - they get on edge.

"They know they need goals. They want to go top of the league so badly after being so far behind but there’s an enormous amount of patience being shown by that support right now and that is helping the team stay relaxed, cool and calm - maybe not the same across the city."

Celtic host Kilmarnock this Saturday, while Rangers travel to play St Johnstone on Sunday lunchtime.
