Todd Cantwell has told Rangers fans he will be back in action soon.

The 25-year-old was recently ruled out for up to a month after he picked up a muscle injury.

It was a bitter blow for the ex-Norwich City man, who had scored three goals and was enjoying a fine run of form for the Ibrox club after the winter break.

The news was also bad timing for Rangers' Europa League last-16 tie against Benfica, with he first leg coming up in Lisbon this Thursday.

Cantwell is a major doubt for both of those games, however, if his social media activity is anything to go by, then Rangers fans won't have long to wait before they see the attacking midfielder back on the pitch.

Sharing a highlights reel of his best moments from this season so far, he simply posted two emojis which read: "Back soon."

Last week, boss Philippe Clement revealed his belief that the playmaker needed a greater degree of protection from officials in Scotland over some robust challenges he was subjected to.

Asked if the treatment that Cantwell had received at the hands of St Johnstone players in Perth recently had caused his injury, Clement said: “For sure, it will not have helped.

“Todd has made a really positive evolution in that way. His attitude is much better the last couple of weeks.

“Todd’s always been a player who is really good on the ball, but sometimes he’s a little bit too provocative. I’ve spoken with him about that. He’s learned lessons and the moment he started to play more simply, he started to play better too.

“So, for sure, in this game he could have been more protected because there were a few challenges. For sure, I remember one in the midfield where he gets flipped over and for me those are always yellow cards.

“But I am not a referee so for sure I’m not going to go in those discussions because I am a coach, not a referee.”
