The crucial Scottish Premiership match between Dundee and Rangers will face an 11am pitch inspection tomorrow morning.

The Dens Park pitch has been closely monitored after heavy rainfall across the city since Saturday's game with Motherwell.

That game was in doubt after the surface failed a morning pitch inspection but it was sufficiently improved by 1pm for referee David Dickinson to allow proceedings to continue.

Motherwell eventually won the game 3-2 but not before firing out a furious statement before kick off questioning the decision to play and suggesting player safety was being compromised.

A yellow weather warning from the Met Office was in place on Tuesday, April 9 amid blowing winds and heavy rain.

The re-arranged match was originally postponed on Sunday, March 17 due to a waterlogged pitch.

Asked about the pitch at his pre-match press conference, Philippe Clement said: "I want a decision today. You want to prepare games but the clubs, both clubs and the federation, are on speaking terms about that.

"You want to prepare games, if it is not possible you want to see what is the alternative and then you need to find an alternative elsewhere and there is not much time because it is the split next week in the league. That is also clear.

"You want an alternative and to play as fast as possible but you need to prepare also. I think these things give a really bad image to the league and it needs to be solved in the future that it is not possible."
