PFA Scotland have announced the shortlist for the Manager of the Year award - with Celtic and Rangers snubbed.

The prize - voted for by managers in Scotland - will be contested by a three-man shortlist this season.

Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes, Dundee boss Tony Docherty and Falkirk manager John McGlynn are in the running for the gong.

Docherty has made waves with Dundee this season guiding the club to a top-six finish in the league with the Dens Park club in the hunt for European qualification.

Kilmarnock manager McInnes has enjoyed a stunning season at Rugby Park guiding the club to fourth place in the Scottish Premiership with continental football next season.

The only lower league candidate for the award is McGlynn. Tha Falkirk manager has overseen a so-far unbeaten league campaign with the Bairns to be promoted to the Championship as League One champions this season.

Falkirk have won 27 matches and drawn eight in their 35 league outings to date this term.

Billy Brown, the chairman of the Managers and Coaches Association, said: ā€œAll three SPFL managers deserve great credit for the jobs theyā€™ve done with the resources at their disposal. Derek won the award a decade ago and seems to be reinvigorated at Kilmarnock, heā€™s had a terrific season.

ā€œIā€™ve known John for a long time, firstly as a coach at Musselburgh Windsor before Jim Jefferies and I took him to Hearts all those years ago. Iā€™m really chuffed at what heā€™s done with Falkirk, itā€™s amazing to go through nearly an entire season unbeaten.

ā€œFor Tony in his first job as a manager to get Dundee into the top six, he should be really proud. I watched them several times in person this season and theyā€™ve been great to watch. I couldnā€™t argue with whoever wins the award.ā€
