Inter Milan are lining up a summer move for Celtic star Matt O'Riley after the midfielder's impressive season.

O'Riley has been a standout since making the move to Celtic Park from MK Dons and Atletico Madrid made an attempt to sign him in the January window.

It's expected that the Hoops will face a challenge to hold onto him this summer with more teams set to make their interest known and reports in Italy suggest Serie A champions Inter Milan could be one of those.

Simone Inzaghi's side sealed the Serie A title earlier this month by defeating rivals AC Milan at the San Siro and their attention has already turned to strengthening their squad in the summer.

Corriere dello Sport say are keeping him under observation and are considering a move in the summer. It suggests the Scottish Premiership is becoming a hunting ground for Italian teams once again with successful deals in recent seasons.

Lewis Ferguson is the standout of those after helping Bologna to a European spot this season while Aaron Hickey was also a success at the same club before a move to Brentford. Josh Doig is currently at Sassuolo while Ylber Ramadani has impressed for Lecce since moving there from Aberdeen.

O'Riley is likely to command a hefty transfer fee and that could even end up being a Scottish record with the clubs involved in wanting to sign him.

Celtic are believed to have asked Atletico Madrid for £25million to sell him in the summer, such is his importance to Brendan Rodgers side.

Earlier this week, O'Riley was nominated for the Scottish Premiership player of the year award after scoring 13 goals and 11 assists in his 32 games so far.
