Peter Grant reckons on-loan Celtic striker Adam Idah is "technically better" than former Hoops ace Moussa Dembele as he urged the club to make his transfer permanent this summer.

Idah, 23, has flourished since joining the Scottish Premiership leaders from Norwich City in January.

He has contributed with seven goals and two assists from his 14 appearances so far, providing valuable competition to Kyogo Furuhashi.

Speculation is rife around his future since Celtic have the option to sign the Republic of Ireland international for just £5million.

And former Parkhead favourite, Grant, can't see any reason why Brendan Rodgers and the Celtic hierarchy would turn down that opportunity - citing that he could prove a shrewd investment when you compare his statistics to other frontmen who have went on to be sold for tens of millions.

"For £5million? I think so because it is very difficult to get any striker for that type of money," Grant told the Go Radio Football Show.

"I know he's not a number nine, but Sammie Smzodics has been scoring a lot of goals, and now you are talking about £15-20m for him at Blackburn who are sitting near the bottom of the league.

"We know what Idah can do and what he offers. He is hungry to score goals and is young. I think if he keeps taking the chances he can get better and more clinical, and you could end up getting big money again.

"Look what happened with Moussa Dembele. And I think he (Idah) is technically better than Moussa. They are different types of players but technique wise I think he brings that to his game as well."
