As the title officially became Celtic's, manager Brendan Rodgers spoke of the 'tedious' issues and 'negativity' he faced off the park as he worked to get his team over the line.

Rodgers said “It was about the team and the support staff. There was so much in the first six months. It felt a bit awkward for everyone. There were lots of challenges from a management perspective, tedious stuff that took place. I’ve not had that before in my career.

“The challenge was the voice of the team was right no matter the negativity. We stay on point, keep our focus and preparation knowing the players would get to a level and intensity to which my teams normally play and as if by magic that’s how its ended up, That spirit in the team was key. You have to have that.”

Meanwhile, captain Callum McGregor shared his euphoric reaction after the full-time whistle.

He said: "It was brilliant. The resilience that the group has shown is brilliant, and I think we're in a really good place now. I think you can see that in some of the football.

"Especially in the first half [against Kilmarnock], we were really slick and we had a great idea of what we were trying to do. [Adam Idah] comes in as well, having not played as much, and gets a goal and looks a real threat at the top of the pitch. We're in a good place, and we just need to stay there."

Celtic will play St Mirren in their final league fixture on Saturday, May 17 before potentially securing a double by taking on Rangers in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday, May 25.
