Forgotten Celtic ace Alexandro Bernabei is set to move clubs for the second time this year.

The left-back, 23, left Celtic on loan in March to join Brazilian club SC Internacional.

However, it's reported Bernabei - who signed for Celtic from Lanus for a fee in the region of £3.5m - could make another move in August to head to Argentina.

The defender's current loan deal runs until the end of 2024 but, crucially, can be ended sooner between August 1 and 7.

Journalist Matias Martinez has revealed Independiente in Argentina are keen to negotiate a loan deal with Celtic to sign Bernabei.

And it could be possible should the exit clause in his move to Brazil be activated. It would then allow Bernabei to be loaned out again this year.

Bernabei is reportedly keen on the opportunity to join Independiente making a loan shuffle a real possibility.

After sealing a switch to Brazil, Bernabei had said: "I really wanted to come back and feel what South American football is all about again.

"Wearing this Internacional shirt gives me a lot of emotion and adrenaline. Knowing what this club means makes me want to get going and make an impression here.

"When I heard about Internacional wanting me, I wanted to come here.

"When it comes to my football assets, I am fast, I cross the ball well and show a lot of motivation and aggression.

"But you will see that where it matters...on the pitch.

"I am going to give everything to the cause this season."

On Bernabei's loan move in March, Brendan Rodgers commented: “He’s a really, really good professional. He never gave me a minute’s problem since I’ve been here and trained hard every day. But, he needs to and wants to go and play.

“His chances, I could only be open and honest and say it would be limited here. That chance to go to Brazil, the team he’s gone with has an Argentinian coach – hopefully he can play regular football.”
