Karamoko Dembele was once tipped to be the next big thing coming through the Celtic youth academy - and he made the headlines after turning out for the club's Under-20's team at 13. 

But the now 20-year-old left Scottish football for French Ligue 1 side, Brest, in summer 2022 and spent the past season on-loan at Blackpool in England's third-tier.

That spell at Broomfield Road proved fruitful with the winger playing 47 times, scoring nine goals and earning plenty of plaudits.

Subsequently, Dembele, who made 10 first team appearances while on Celtic’s books, is on the verge of signing for Queens Park Rangers (QPR) after the club reached an agreement with Brest regarding a transfer fee.

The deal, reportedly valued at £2.6 million with potential add-ons, marks a significant step for the attacker within English football.

An EFL journalist gave the transfer news, which was first revealed by Fabrizio Romano, his seal of approval by saying: "Very jealous of #QPR getting Karamoko Dembele. Made watching a boring Blackpool FC team exciting at times last season and if he’s used in the right way can be a fantastic player in the Championship."

QPR fell to a 3-1 home defeat against West Brom on Saturday, and will hope Dembele can help improve results in the weeks to come.
