A football team has been docked points after a player was wrongly substituted on.
Johnstone Burgh has been stripped of three points and fined £100 for substituting former Rangers, Hearts, and Kilmarnock player Kyle Lafferty in a match against Darvel, despite having already made their quota of five substitutions.
The error was noticed when the 37-year-old won a penalty for his team, leading the referee to allow the substitution to be reversed.
However, the penalty was allowed to stand, and Burgh went on to win the game.
Darvel, who are at the bottom of the West of Scotland Football League (WoSFL) Premier Division, immediately appealed to the league, and a hearing has now decided to dock Johnstone Burgh three points for the mistake.
Michael Oliver, Darvel's boss, expressed his frustration after the match, saying: "The referee ruined the game, we've ultimately been cheated.
"I can't stand here and say anything else.
"We're winning 1-0 and really comfortable, they might have had more of the ball but they weren't hurting us."
He added: "Look, it's a disgrace really.
"I'm kind of lost for words, actually.
"I feel sick and it almost makes you not want to be involved in football if referees can be as bad as that, it's honestly incredible."
Despite the penalty and the substitution error, Burgh managed to win the game, increasing Darvel's woes.
The league's decision to dock points now leaves Johnstone Burgh with reduced points on the league table.
This incident involving the former Northern Ireland international has certainly left a mark on the lower leagues of Scottish football.
