Shaun Maloney is reportedly set for a return to Celtic, 14 years after leaving as a player.
The 42-year-old, who was last in charge of Wigan Athletic, is expected to take over from Darren O'Dea as the club's professional player pathway manager.
This role will involve helping the club's young talents bridge the gap to the first team, including managing loans.
The Scottish Sun reports that Maloney, a former player for both the Hoops and Scotland, will be back at Celtic Park to guide the next generation.
O'Dea left this summer to become an assistant manager at Swansea City.
Maloney, who came through the Hoops academy, went on to make over 200 appearances for the club, scoring 52 goals and winning eight major honours, including five league titles.
He left Celtic for Aston Villa but returned for a second spell just over a year later.
Maloney started his coaching career with Celtic's development team before moving on to a role at Belgium under his former Wigan manager Roberto Martinez.
He had a short stint as Hibs manager before taking over at Wigan.
Speaking about working under Brendan Rodgers, Maloney said: "Brendan’s a brilliant manager – tactically very good, particularly whenever I went to him with a query.
"We’ve stayed in touch, and he was brilliant to speak with before I took the manager’s job at Hibernian – as he was during my time there and after I left."
The former Hibs boss will now be tasked with shaping the future of Celtic's young talents, hoping to help them make the step up to the first team.
