Legendary commentator Hugh Keevins has told of the 24 hours when his fundraising gig was thrown into chaos after the infamous row between Neil Lennon and Ally McCoist.
Ahead of his Pie, Pint and Pundit night in Clydebank next month, the Clyde 1 broadcaster has shared how the two Old Firm managers had it out on the pitch the day before appearing at a charity gig together.
Branded as one of the most bitter exchanges in Old Firm history, Lennon and McCoist came face-to-face in a touchline clash that left Hugh Keevins wondering if the Rangers assistant boss would turn up to his event.
Keevins said: "Ally McCoist had a famous argument with Neil Lennon on the touchline at Celtic Park in a mid-week Celtic-Rangers game.
"I thought, ‘This is a disaster’ because we had a fundraising night 24 hours later, and I thought, ‘No way Ally will come.’
"In the morning, the phone rang and I could see on my phone Coisty, which is his nickname.
"The first thing he said to me was, ‘You think I'm phoning to cancel? Well, I'm not. You tell your daughter that I'll be there tonight.'
"We had police at the door. because it was a kind of volatile time, but Ally McCoist made sure that he was there and wouldn't let anybody down."
The Pie, Pint and Pundit events, organised by Keevin's daughter, have attracted major footballing names for over a decade that the gigs have been running.
Frank McAvennie, Alex Rae and Tam McManus will make up the panel for the next night, which will take place on Thursday, October 2.
In aid of local causes, the nights raise hundreds of well-needed funds for charities close to the broadcaster's heart.
Speaking ahead of October's charity night in the Albion Social Club, Keevins shared that interviewing the footballing stars can be alot different on these nights.
He added: "It's not like the radio. You can get away with one or two wee words that you couldn't say on the radio.
"The callers have to mind what they're saying as well, but this is simply a night where you just relax and the audience can have a laugh with you, can have a laugh back with them.
"And obviously, unlike the radio, you can have a pint while you're doing it."
The October event will raise funds for Calum's Cabin, a charity which provides holiday homes for families affected by childhood cancer.
Tickets for the event are selling for £20 and include a drink and a half-time pie.
