Kris Boyd has made no secret of the fact he wasn't a fan of Danny Rohl's celebratory antics following Rangers' 3-0 victory over Dundee yesterday.
Now, he insists there is no way his former boss Walter Smith would've conducted himself in that manner back during his time in charge of the Ibrox club.
Rohl's side made it three Scottish Premiership wins on the spin since the German took over on Sunday afternoon.
As supporters sang his name loudly at full time, the 36-year-old showed his appreciation for them by engaging with the celebrations.
Boyd feels it was all a bit much, insisting Rohl should have made his way down the tunnel much sooner than he did.
He told the Scottish Sun's Go Ballistic show: "I might be sitting here becoming a dinosaur but I would always ask the question – maybe because I played under him – the thing I would always say as a Rangers manager, would Walter Smith have done that? The answer would be no.
“I know it’s changed, I get the fact teams go around pitches and they want to applaud you off and things like that but for me, get up the tunnel, get on to the next week and see where it takes you.
“It’s been a difficult period for Rangers, I think Rangers fans – and rightly so – want to get a manager that they can get behind, they can trust to make decisions and get their team back winning again and I totally get it.
“But for me, as I said, I might be old school on this, but as a manager – even the players – just get yourself up the tunnel.
“Everybody says to at least show respect to the fans and appreciate what they do for you and everything.
“But the biggest respect and appreciation you can show to them is putting in the effort every single Saturday to win games of football so they can be home and proud of their team.
“You do that and they’ll be happy. You don’t need to be up clapping, you don’t need to be up celebrating, you don’t need to go round the pitch.
“We’ve seen it before – when you win games of football, everything’s fine.
“When you don’t and you’re still going round the pitch, it’s an empty stadium, there’s a few people hurling abuse at you. You can’t have it both ways, that’s my point. Just get yourself up the tunnel.”
