Mitchel Frame rejected a Liverpool switch to join Aberdeen after leaving Celtic.

The young left-back, a product of Celtic's academy, played a few times for Celtic's first team, including in their Champions League victory over Feyenoord.

However, deciding that first-team opportunities were limited at Celtic, Frame decided to move on.

Liverpool expressed interest in recruiting him for their under-23s squad, spotting his potential, but he opted for Aberdeen, valuing their offer of first-team involvement more.

He believed this would be better for personal growth and career progression.

Frame spoke candidly with the Daily Record about his decision, saying: "Yes, it (Liverpool) was obviously on the cards, but I felt like I needed men's football instead of just playing at the 23s."

The Dons star weighed up his options and concluded the move would be the challenge he needed.

"I feel if you come to men's football, you develop a lot quicker and a lot faster," Frame said.

"I’d been playing at under-18s and B team with Celtic."

He further added he had reached the point at Celtic where he wasn't developing any further.

Reflecting on his time with the Dons, Frame said: "It's been good to get that exposure.

"I feel like I needed it because I just turned 20 and I hadn't had much experience in first-team football."

His performances, notably against Raith Rovers and Livingston, have boosted his confidence.

He described his emotions heading into these matches as a mix of nerves and excitement, saying: "I was nervous and excited because I wasn't really expecting to come on at half-time (against Raith Rovers)."

"To come on at half-time was obviously a massive opportunity and I just had to go and show that I was capable to go and play."

"The first start against Livingston was good.

"Obviously, it was a pretty big win.

"But I feel like it gave me a lot of confidence playing."

"You know, it showed me that I was capable to play at men's football.

"So it just gave me that confidence to go out and play and show my abilities."
