Rangers captain James Tavernier has not yet been offered a new contract.

The club skipper, 34, will see his current deal expire this summer.

Despite the contract uncertainty, Tavernier is undeterred, revealing he is focused on the "short-term" goal of securing the Scottish Premiership title.

Speaking to the BBC about a possible contract extension, when asked if he had been offered terms on a new contract, Tavernier said: "Not as yet."

When asked if he would be at Ibrox beyond summer 2026, Tavernier replied: "I don't know."

He continued: "Time will tell for that one.

"I'm a man who always focuses on short-term.

"My wife's asking me about summer holidays and what the kids need on their holidays and I'm saying 'talk to me at a later date' because that's too far ahead for me.

"I am obviously excited for what the future brings."

As the club captain, Tavernier has broken multiple records at Rangers.

Securing another league title would be the ideal end to the season for him.

However, he has spent time both on the bench and in the stands this season.

When questioned about whether the prospect of guaranteed game time under head coach Danny Rohl could secure his stay, he said: "Nobody is guaranteed to play football.

"You have to earn that right to start."
