Harry Redknapp is convinced billionaire Tony Bloom will not rest until Heart of Midlothian are crowned champions of Scotland – and says the Brighton supremo is already “emotionally” hooked on the Tynecastle club.

The former Spurs boss spent Sunday at Easter Road alongside Bloom, who invested £10million in Hearts last summer, and came away in no doubt about the 54‑year‑old’s ambitions. Redknapp said: “Tony is a very successful man who isn’t used to failure. [Scottish Sun]

"He’s very big in the racing game and has done very well with his horses. He’s also done an amazing job at Brighton. Their stadium is fantastic, the training ground is amazing, and they’re sitting in the top half of the Premier League. It really is an incredible story.”

Redknapp revealed Bloom is just as gripped by Hearts’ title tilt as he is by his Premier League club. He said: “I spoke to him on Sunday and he’s a fascinating character. You have to admire how well he’s done. It wasn’t hard to tell how invested he’s become in Hearts, emotionally as well as financially.

"He’s loving the fact they are top and going for the title. I didn’t actually ask him if he gets the same nervous feeling watching Hearts as he does Brighton, but I reckon he will. He certainly looked it at 1-0 down to their rivals at half-time on Sunday!”

The 79‑year‑old insists Bloom hasn’t come to Gorgie to make up the numbers. Redknapp said: “Tony will be desperate for Hearts to become champions. He’s not involved in the club for any old reason.

"When he invests in something, he wants results, and his track record speaks for itself. Tony will push and push; he’ll have a right go. He’ll make sure Hearts keep recruiting as well as possible — and, for sure, his aim will be to win the title.”

And if it doesn’t happen this year, Redknapp is sure Bloom will only double down. He added: “If it doesn’t happen this season — and, listen, they’re in a great position — he’ll be even stronger for it for next year.

"Tony’s done a great job at Brighton on and off the field. He brought in Paul Barber as chief executive to run the club, and the set-up they have is every bit as impressive as what’s going on with the team. He wants the same thing for Hearts.

"If they don’t win this season, I’m sure he’ll do it in the next three or four years.”
