Michael Beale has been named the new manager of Zulte Waregem.

The ex-Rangers boss takes the helm at the Belgian side on a two-year contract, having been without a club since leaving Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League last year.

This appointment marks his return to management after a two-year hiatus.

Zulte Waregem avoided relegation in Belgium's top division last season.

Beale, speaking to club media, expressed his enthusiasm for the role: "Over the past few weeks, I have got to know the club very well.

"Discussions with the sporting staff have shown that our ambitions and footballing vision are very much aligned. It is an honour for me to be able to lead a club like Zulte Waregem.

"Together with the staff, we are now preparing for the new football season and finalising the composition of our coaching team.

"I look forward to meeting the fans for the first time at the start of the new season."

Sporting director Niels Leroy also conveyed his confidence in Beale's leadership. He said: "The appointment of Michael as head coach is a new step for us towards sporting stability and ambition.

"During our discussions, Michael made a strong impression and was able to perfectly align his footballing vision with the qualities of our team.

"Last season, Steve Colpaert and the coaching staff managed to secure our league status early on.

"We are therefore convinced that they will provide Michael with the perfect support in his ambition to raise the bar a little higher every year."

Beale's appointment comes as a fresh start for both the manager and the club, setting the stage for their forthcoming season in the Belgian Pro League.
