Hibs will resist any bids for in-form striker Kevin Nisbet this month amid interest from Celtic, according to a report.

The striker has returned from ten months out with an ACL injury in brilliant form, netting a stunning seven times in six games.

Five of those goals have come in his last two outings against Motherwell and Dundee United.

It emerged late last night that the Scotland international had re-emerged as a potential target for Celtic.

Their interest comes as Giorgos Giakoumakis looks to be edging ever closer to his switch to Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan.

However, the Daily Record say Hibs will fend off any interest for the 25-year-old this January.

The report states that there's been no direct contact from any club to Hibs regarding any potential deal.

It also states that the Easter Road club will not entertain any attempt to prise Nisbet away.

The Scotland striker has 18-months left on his current contract in Edinburgh.

Lee Johnson spoke recently about commencing negotiations over a new deal soon.

Should a new deal not be agreed then Hibs would most likely look to cash in on their prize asset in the summer.

Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou has provided a Celtic transfer update amid on-going speculation surrounding his squad.

Reports have been mounting over the future of Giorgos Giakoumakis, with some outlets claiming he is likely to complete a £3.5million move to Urawa Red Diamonds in the coming days.

But Postecoglou had received no information on any definite departures after his squad’s final training session before Wednesday’s cinch Premiership encounter against St Mirren.

Celtic completed three signings in advance of and early in January, but all of a defensive mind – centre-back Yuki Kobayashi, right-back Alistair Johnston and the versatile Tomoki Iwata.
