GLASGOW golfers Andrew McArthur and Pamela Pretswell are hoping another valuable financial fillip can help them hit the jackpot on the pro circuit.

The local duo have kept their places in Team Scottish Hydro, a support system set up five years ago to help some of Scotland's touring players fund their careers.

McArthur scored his second win on the Challenge Tour last season, but just fell short of earning promotion to the main European circuit on the final rankings.

And after believing his time in Team Scottish Hydro had drawn to a close, the former Scottish Amateur champ is keen to make the most of this latest helping hand.

He said: "It was a very pleasant surprise when I got the phone call to say I was being selected again. I thought after three years in it, that would be it and I was already writing letters to potential sponsors to get support from other places.

"This is a big boost and hopefully this will be the year that sees me secure my Tour card."

Pretswell has been making impressive strides on the Ladies' European Tour in recent years, and the former Curtis Cup player is aiming to take inspiration from close friend, Kylie Walker, as she strives to make the breakthrough on the main Tour.

Glasgow ace Walker, a former member of Team Scottish Hydro, reeled off two wins last year as she finished 11th on the European Order of Merit and Pretswell is hoping to follow in those winning footsteps.

The Bothwell Castle member has already racked up a trio of top-10 finishes this season and is looking forward to a campaign that includes the Ladies' Scottish Open at Dundonald and the Women's British Open at Turnberry.

She said: "Watching Kylie last year was a real inspiration and my early results this year are hopefully just a start of what I can achieve this season."

Wallace Booth, Sally Watson, Jamie McLeary, Duncan Stewart, George Murray and Jack Doherty make up Team Scottish Hydro for 2015.
