RANGERS booked a home quarter-final in the William Hill Scottish Cup against Albion Rovers at the weekend.

Yet, while thousands of Gers fans will turn out for the tie, there will be far fewer than the 80,000 which crammed into Ibrox in 1972...

Smithy (Erskine) - Can you tell me what age Derek Parlane was when he scored for Rangers in the semi-final of the European Cup- Winners' Cup against Bayern Munich in 1972?

Derek was only 18 when he scored Rangers' second goal in that memorable night.

They won the semi-final 3-1 on aggregate and went on to lift the trophy by beating Moscow Dynamo 3-2 in the final in Barcelona.

Pat Cremin (Croy) - Could you tell me anything about the match in which Bobby Murdoch scored Celtic's 6,000th League goal? It would be about 1973, and Partick Thistle were the opponents.

The match was played at Celtic Park on February 10, 1973. The game ended 1-1.

Bobby Lawrie had put Thistle ahead at half-time. However, Bobby Murdoch scored the historic goal to equalise in the 71st minute.

Jags keeper Alan Rough parried a Kenny Dalglish header and Murdoch netted the rebound. A crowd of 32,000 watched these teams:

Celtic: Hunter, McGrain, Quinn, Murdoch, McNeill, Connelly, Johnstone, Dalglish, Deans, Callaghan and Lennox.

Partick Thistle: Rough, Hansen, Gray, Glavin, Campbell, Strachan, Chalmers, Craig, Coulston, Rae and Lawrie.

Andy (Paisley) - Can you tell me when was the last time Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup and how long it is since they won the League Cup ?

The last time Aberdeen lifted the Scottish Cup was in season 1989-90. On May 12, 1990, they beat Celtic 9-8 on penalties after extra-time.

Their reign as Scottish Cup champions was short-lived, however, as they were knocked out in the first round the following season when a Stevie Kirk goal put Motherwell on the road to taking their crown in 1991.

In season 1995-96 Aberdeen lifted the League Cup after defeating Dundee 2-0. Aberdeen's scorers were Billy Dodds and Duncan Shearer.

George Brown (Partick) - I remember, when I was young, hearing about a "Scotsman from Ireland who won the English Cup with a Welsh team", but I have no idea who this was or what the trick was about the title.

Jimmy Nelson was the man given the humorous title by in 1927 when he won the FA Cup with Cardiff City.

Jimmy was born in Greenock in 1901, but moved to Northern Ireland when he was very young. He played junior football in Belfast before turning Senior with Crusaders.

In 1921 he left Ireland to join Cardiff City and was right-back in the Welsh side's Wembley Cup final win over Arsenal, thus creating the four-country "nickname".
