RANGERS starlet Tom Walsh has withdrawn from the Scotland Under-19 side for their Euro qualifier triple-header this week with a hamstring injury.
The midfielder has caught the eye in recent games after being handed starts by new Ibrox boss Stuart McCall for the Championship clashes with Livingston and Alloa.
He missed out on a place in McCall's starting line-up as Rangers beat Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday, and 19s gaffer Ricky Sbragia has confirmed the Light Blues kid will not travel to Austria with the squad.
Sbragia said: "Ryan Fulton is out with a ligament problem in an elbow and Tom Walsh has a hamstring problem. We found that out after the Hibs game [on Sunday]. We just have to move on. We have brought in Scott Martin and Jordan Hart of Celtic.
"I think he (Walsh) is a good player. When we went to Lithuania, he was half-fit, but he did really well.
"He had a number of games under his belt and we earmarked him to play in certain positions. We were going to change the formation slightly, but we will have to revise it again."
Scotland kick off their Euro Championship campaign with a quickfire hat-trick of tough fixtures against Austria, Italy and Croatia in the coming days.
And boss Sbragia is determined his side will realise their promise as they look to clinch a place in the finals in Greece later this year.
He said: "Development and winning work with each other. We have got to go there and win. We have been there three times at this level and really let ourselves down.
"We have played reasonably well, but not won games or picked up the points we deserved. It is difficult. It is the same with every country at the Elite level.
"It is demanding physically as well as mentally. We have got to go in there thinking we have got a chance."
