DIDIER AGATHE won three league titles during his six-year spell with Celtic and was part of Martin O'Neill's team that went all the way to the 2003 Uefa Cup Final in Seville...

BARRY GALLAGHER (Paisley) – Why were Celtic able to sign Didier Agathe for such a small fee? I believe it was only around £50,000 from Hibs?

Didier Agathe arrived in Scottish football with Raith Rovers in August 1999, where he would enjoy a successful season, scoring seven times.

This was enough to impress Hibernian, who elected to offer the Frenchman a contract, though only for three months, in part due to concerns over an underlying knee condition.

Despite missing an open goal in his debut against Hearts, Agathe was immediately successful, netting four goals in his next four games.

With his short-term contract due to expire on October 2, Hibs boss Alex McLeish offered the player a bumper two-year contract, however by this time Agathe had impressed new Celtic boss Martin O’Neill.

Agathe turned the contract down giving Hibs no choice but to sell him to Celtic for just £27,000 on September 1, 2000.

THE TED (via email) – About 20 years ago Rangers scored 10 goals in a Scottish Cup tie against a Highland League club. Who was that team and how many goals did Ally McCoist score that day?

On January 27, 1996, Rangers won 10-1 away to Keith. The game was actually played at Pittodrie, Aberdeen.

Ally McCoist was not in the Gers team that day.

Rangers goals were scored by Ferguson (3), Cleland (3), Durie (pen), Robertson, Miller and Mikhailichenko.

THE LAIRD OF LOCHWINNOCH – In Third Lanark’s last season in the League they had a high-scoring match against Montrose. I think the score was 8-4. Can you confirm this? Also could you tell me who the goalscorers were?

On October 22, 1966, Thirds defeated Montrose 7-4. Goalscorers for Thirds were Stewart, Henderson, Fyffe (4) and Harvey.

For Montrose Dickson scored a hat-trick and Kemp also scored.
