Rangers boss Mark Warburton insists Sports Direct loan deal repayment won't hinder his January shopping plans

Chairman Dave King confirmed at Friday’s AGM that the cash owed to the Sports Direct chief would be paid back after several investors agreed to provide the funds in addition to the £2.5million that is required at Ibrox before the end of the season.

Warburton has held talks with the Light Blues board over his plans for the January transfer window as he looks to bolster his ranks for the remainder of the Championship title race.

The 53-year-old was given a warm reception by shareholders on Friday after an impressive start to the campaign and he is keen to keep his focus on the park as he sets his sights on a Premiership berth.

Warburton said: "It was very timid. There were some good questions, it was positive, there were no curveballs, which was nice.

“There was a couple of football questions which was nice. It was well done and it went well.

"The communication is good. We put our targets forward and then we make our move so it is just an ongoing process. I think it (the loan) is a separate issue.

"My focus is here. I let other people get on with the business side of things, I just concentrate on the football.

"We don't know where the money comes from, it's a separate source, separate funding, so if it's a separate funding source it doesn't impact on us. There's speculation that it does, but it depends on what money had been allocated to what account, so to speak.

"It (stability) is important. What came out of the AGM was some very clear targets for the club and we have to make sure we are in a position to achieve those targets, that's the main thing."

Warburton has enjoyed significant success in the transfer market so far as he has overhauled his Ibrox squad and taken his side top of the table this term.

He paid fees to land the likes of Jason Holt and Martyn Waghorn and will do what is required to add the required quality to his Light Blue pool once again.

Warburton said: "We need to get players who can play at the next level and the one above.

“We have to do what we have to do to get the right players in. It's about getting the right players if they are available.

"That's what we need to do. We need to go out and get players who can add value.

“In January, February, March there are heavier pitches, etc. and you have to make sure you have the resources to deal with it."
