The Glasgow Times is on the hunt for the best takeaway lunch spot in the city. We are looking for your recommendations across the city centre, North Glasgow, East End, Southside and West End, and will be judging food based on Value for Money, Taste, Atmosphere, Service and Variety.

Today was a rainy day and I decided to go on a culinary adventure to cheer myself up.

I have never had Korean food before but I know the cuisine is increasingly popular everywhere around the world.

Glasgow too has quite a few places that serve a variety of dishes from the Asian country but I went for the one right at the heart of the city centre.

Kim's Korean Street Food is a little buffet located at the food court of Buchanan Galleries, right next to Burger King.

Glasgow Times:

They offer corndogs, - which is a sausage on a stick, covered in cornmeal batter and deep-fried-, Tteobokki - a meal of spicy stir-fried rice cakes - and more.

I wandered up the escalator around lunchtime to catch their meal deal, which is one corndog, fried and a can of drink for £10.

On its own, the corndog, I think, is enough for a midday bite and the complete meal will fuel you until dinner for sure.

I ordered the pork sausage in the original batter (you can get potato-coated or ramen-coated for an extra £1), along with plain fries and a can of Fanta.

You can sit in the canteen-style space in front of the window, but I opted to take away as we have been doing since the beginning of our series.

Glasgow Times:

It took around 12 minutes for my order to be done and the little device started bussing in my hand.

The food came in a comfortable brown bag with handles, which I especially appreciated walking back to the office in the rain.

Upon opening the packages, the corndog, which I had asked for with ketchup and mayo, was a little smudged but this was obviously expected.

Everything was still fresh and hot, except for the can of Fanta, which was chilled, of course.

The corndog was delicious and very filling, I am, admittedly a bit picky about meat at times but I had no problem eating the sausage. It was tasty and had a good consistency.

The batter was crunchy and flavourful and the chips were cooked perfectly and not too soggy.

By the time I finished my lunch, I was completely full and could not have eaten any more.

For me, this meal was a success but I cannot overlook the price, which came to a total of £10.10, due to the takeaway bag.

Another point worth noting is that this may be a little too heavy for lunch, as I know a lot of people like to enjoy a lighter meal at this time.

Overall, I am happy I tried Korean food and I honestly recommend it to anyone who gets hungry in the city centre in the early afternoon - as a treat.

What's the verdict?

Value for Money: 2/5 - Definitely a payday kind of lunch, even though it was filling, I could not justify spending this every day (or even week).

Taste: 4/5 - This is obviously a deep-fried meal, but taking that into consideration, it was flavourful and the textures were very pleasing.

Atmosphere: 3/5 - Unfortunately, this eatery is in a shopping centre, so it is difficult to build any intimate, customer-focused dining experience. For what they had to work with, it was good: the area is clean and comfortable.

Service: 5/5 - Servers are friendly and very patient with first-time visitors, happy to explain anything. It was also surprisingly quick service, given the location and the time.

Variety: 3/5 - The menu is limited to a few items, which you can customise but I honestly kind of enjoy not being spoiled for choice.

Overall score: 17/25
