A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman confirmed the fire has since been extinguished.

He added: "We took an alarm call at 1.22pm for a building on Renfrew Street in Glasgow. A fire was in the building.

The last appliance left the scene at 3.18pm.

A spokesman for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland said: “A fire alarm was triggered at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland today due to an electrical fault in the Stevenson Hall. The building was evacuated as a precaution and the emergency services attended. The building will operate as normal this evening and tomorrow.”
