A Steve Edwards, the CEO of Nic Ice, which owns the Waverley Bakers in Cambuslang, said: "We can confirm that two cohabiting members of staff have tested positive for Coronavirus. We understand that it is likely to have been contracted outside of the workplace as the first person to show symptoms has been on annual leave for two weeks.

"The site has not been operational for four days due to new shift patterns that have been implemented over the last few months. However we took the further action of remaining closed today to allow for deep cleaning and sanitisation of all areas. This was undertaken and has now been completed, by an external provider.

"No other members of staff have shown symptoms and we are working in line with Government guidelines and alongside the Government Test and Trace procedure.

"The safety of our colleagues is our number one priority and all precautions including changes to shift patterns and break times, layouts of production lines, provision of PPE and increased sanitisation measures are already in place and are continually reinforced and reviewed."
