MP Margaret Ferrier will not face any further police action for travelling from London to Scotland after testing positive for coronavirus

Met Police confirmed the MP will face "no further action" in relation to their investigation into the incident.

The MP had travelled to Glasgow on September 29 after testing positive for Covid.

The force explained the regulations for self-isolation came into place after her test had taken place.

A statement added: "Officers consider possible offences including those under Reg. 11(2) of the Health Protection Regulations 2020 which relates to self-isolation requirement.

"However, on detailed examination of this new legislation, and following legal advice, it was concluded that this regulation is applicable only after the 28th September 2020.

"In this case, the test occurred prior to the 29th September 2020 and therefore the regulation does not apply."

Scotland Yard detectives probed the incident and tested the MP's account by using CCTV to establish the dates of tests and travel arrangements.

The matter has now been referred to Police Scotland for consideration.

The statement added: "We continue to urge everyone to abide by all legislation and any relevant guidelines to help protect themselves and others."
