A WARNING has been issued after fraudsters targeted tenants in Glasgow's East End. 

Locals are being urged to beware of scammers pretending to be from housing associations and asking for bank details. 

Landlords have told people to refuse to give out information if they are in any doubt and instead to phone on an official number. 

In a post online, the Connect Community Trust, an Easterhouse-based development trust, wrote: "We've heard people are getting calls saying they're from local housing associations and asking for bank details.

"It's been confirmed that this is not the case. Please do not give out bank details.

"If in doubt, don't give details and call your local housing on official number." 

The Glasgow Times has contacted Police Scotland for comment.
