A MAN has died after being hit by a train in North Lanarkshire yesterday.
Police have confirmed he passed away at the scene at around 3.50pm on the track near Bellshill.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
A British Police Transport spokesman said: "British Transport Police were called at 3.52pm on 09/12 to an area of railway in Wishaw following a report of a casualty on the tracks.

"Sadly, a man was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
"Officers are in the process of preparing a report for the Procurator Fiscal."
