The death of a teenage man who was found injured close to the grounds of a Glasgow university has been ruled as "not suspicious". 

The 18-year-old was discovered in Rottenrow at 1.50am yesterday morning. 

He was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to his injuries where he sadly died a short time later.

Police locked down Collins Street next to Strathclyde University for several hours yesterday while an extensive probe was launched. 

The force have now ruled there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the teenager's death.

Chief Inspector Craig Walker said: “At 1.50am on Wednesday, December 9, emergency services were called to a report of a man found injured in Rottenrow, Glasgow. 

"An 18-year-old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment where he died a short time later. 

"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report has submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
