A teenager has been left with "serious" facial injuries after a violent attack in the city centre

The 19-year-old was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to his face.

Police said he was attacked by an unidentified man on Argyle Street near to its junction to Queen Street at 5.50pm yesterday evening.

The force added that another man, 33 - who was with the victim - also suffered minor injuries caused by a second unidentified man.

They are now hunting for the two men responsible. One fled the scene on a bicycle via Argyle Street. He is white, around 18 to 22-years-old and of medium build.

He was wearing a dark jacket, blue tracksuit bottoms - and riding a bike that had a distinctive blue seat. He was also carrying a drawstring bag over his shoulder.

The other is described as white and he was wearing a khaki green tracksuit with a bubble jacket over the top and white trainers.

Detective Constable Paul Campbell, of Glasgow CID, said: "We are carrying out enquiries to identify these two men and would urge anyone who can help to come forward.

"If you were on Argyle Street around that time and saw or heard a disturbance then please get in touch.

"We would be keen to hear from anyone who may have mobile phone or dashcam footage of the incident.

"Anyone who can help can call 101, quoting incident STORM ref, of 15 December, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
