A PERSON has died after being hit by a train in Lanarkshire.
They were pronounced dead at the scene by medics yesterday following the incident between Motherwell and Lanark.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
Emergency services rushed to the area at around 3.23pm and closed down the track for a number of hours.

British Transport Police officers are now working to identify the person's next of kin.
A force spokesman said: "British Transport Police were called to the line near Motherwell at 3.23pm on Monday 28 December following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin.
"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal."
