Glasgow's largest Lidl opened its doors to customers this morning. 

The Robroyston store has boosted the area by creating 40 new jobs and has 1,433 sqm of space for produce. 

It is Lidl's 105th store in Scotland, and comes as part of an ongoing expansion and regeneration plan.

National chef and nearby resident, Gary Maclean, said: "It’s great to have a new supermarket just a stone’s throw from our house.

"We have five hungry mouths to feed and turning to Lidl for our weekly shop keeps costs down and the whole family happy."

Dad-of-five Gary was given a sneak peek of the store before it opened at 8am.

Gordon Rafferty, Lidl GB’s regional head of property, said: “We would like to thank all those who have played a part in bringing this new Lidl store to Robroyston.

"It is great for us to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area, and we can’t wait to start serving our multi-award winning products to the local community.”

Face coverings are now mandatory in the stores and Lidl is also operating a range of social distancing measures to help maintain a safe store environment for both colleagues and customers.
