Glasgow has recorded 150 additional coronavirus cases overnight.

Across Scotland, there have been 543 new positive tests within the past 24 hours and 35 further Covid-related deaths.

It brings the total amount of deaths linked to coronavirus in Scotland to 9580.

Of these, the majority happened in hospital at 187, with 26 in care homes and 14 at home or in a non-institutional setting and one in another institution.

The statistics are published weekly and cover all deaths registered in Scotland where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

As of yesterday, 750 people across Scotland are in hospital confirmed with the virus - which is a decrease of 34 in 24 hours. Of this figure, 69 patients are in intensive care - down two.

A total of 1,661,879 people have received their first dose of a coronavirus vaccine as of Wednesday morning and 8105 have received their second dose.

Meanwhile, 249 close contacts have been identified of those to have tested positive for the Brazilian variant of Covid-19 in Scotland have been traced. 

It was confirmed on Sunday that three positive cases had entered the country from a flight returning to the North East of Scotland from South America. 

Speaking at the Scottish Government's daily coronavirus media briefing, Scotland's Chief Medical Officer, Dr Gregor Smith, reassured there is "nothing to suggest" that the Brazillian variant has transmitted into the wider community.
