RANGERS 55 graffiti has been plastered across a town centre following the club's first title win in 10 years.

Fans took to the streets of Milngavie yesterday afternoon to celebrate the Scottish Premiership victory.

The Rangers logo and numbers '55' have been painted across bins, shutters and plant pots.

One Glasgow Times reader said: "An extensive amount of pro-Glasgow Rangers graffiti has appeared in Milngavie town centre on the day that hordes of supporters descended on Rangers training ground on Auchenhowie Road in Milngavie.

"The supporters have vandalised the town that hosts their training centre as well as breaking Covid rules.

"It would be good if Glasgow Rangers Football Club made a gesture to the town by arranging to clean up the vandalism and issued an apology to the town."

Meanwhile, in Glasgow, hundreds of fans flocked to George Square to celebrate the victory.

Police Scotland confirmed a "small number" of arrests were made while several fines were handed out.

Thomas Glen, Depute Chief Executive of Places, Neighbourhood & Corporate
Assets at East Dunbartonshire Council, said: "We will arrange for a team to remove this vandalism as a priority.

"It is very disappointing to see such wanton vandalism, particularly when
our Streetscene operations are already stretched due to the additional
pressures of operating during a pandemic.

"Milngavie town centre has been recognised for being one of Scotland's most beautiful high streets and this is due to the work put in by the council, local businesses and community groups, all of whom will be active in clearing up the damage.

"We would encourage residents to report any incidences of vandalism
directly to our Customer Services team on 0300 1234510."
