A KNIFE-WIELDING thug was part of a gang who stole a man's expensive bicycle on a canal path near Glasgow. 

A gang of three pounced on the 42-yea-old as he was riding his pricy bike on the canal path in Bishopbriggs, near Balmuildy Road. 

One thug pulled a knife and threatened the victim while demanding he hand over the bike.

The man was not injured in the robbery but the group made off with his bike in the direction of the Possil Marsh. 

The suspects spoke with local accents and were wearing dark hooded tops with scarfs covering their faces.

Detective Constable Mark Milroy from the Community Investigation Unit based at Govan said: “Thankfully the victim was not hurt during the robbery, but it was still a very distressing experience, and it is vital we trace the despicable individuals responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was on the canal path around 8pm on Saturday night, and witnessed what happened or noticed three men in possession of a mountain bike, to please get in touch.
