A SHOP worker was held at knifepoint by a brazen brute as he attempted to ransack the premises.

Police were called to the premises on Main Street in Rutherglen this morning, shortly after the alarm was raised. 

The culprit fled the scene and headed in the direction of Mill Street.

Detectives are appealing for help of the public to trace the suspect.

He is described as white, with a Scottish accent, 5ft 10ins, and of muscular build.

He was wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts and black trainers and was carrying a JD Sports bag at the time of the incident

Detective Sergeant Craig MacKenzie, of Cambuslang CID, said: “The suspect was seen to leave the premises and walk off towards Mill Street. We are eager to speak to anyone who saw him or can help us identify him or where he went after leaving Main Street.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information that could help is asked to call us on 101, quoting incident 0789 of Monday, 26 April, 2021.”
