A GAY River City star has fled his home, citing concerns for his personal safety. 

David Paisley plays Rory Murdoch in the hit BBC soap and revealed on social media today that he has taken refuge after he received "threats to [his] personal safety".

He said: "So I’ve had to leave my home as I no longer felt safe. Individuals posted my details online, including that they know where I live and made threats to my personal safety.

The police put my home on a rapid response but due to safety concerns I've left and I'm staying somewhere safe."

He thanked his online followers for their "kindness and well wishes".

Mr Paisley was contacted for further comment. 

Glassgow councillor and city convenor for health and social care Mhairi Hunter offered her support in a reply to Mr Paisley's tweet. 

Police Scotland was approached for comment.
