THE Kelvin Way will temporarily close next week as preparations for COP26 get underway.

The stretch of road will be blocked off to all traffic, walkers and cyclists as 25,000 delegates make their way into the city for the climate summit.

The changes will take place on Friday, October 29 and will last until Tuesday, November 2.

The road will close again on Friday, November 5 and Saturday, November 6.

These early operations will include the short-term removal of street furniture and decorative planters.

Meanwhile, Glasgow's travel network is said to be facing a "unique set of challenges" as major roads in the city have closed ahead of the conference.

The Clydeside Expressway and sections of the M8 have temporarily closed while alternative routes have been issued by Glasgow City Council.
