LANGSIDE residents have contacted councillors for help more than anywhere else in Glasgow, figures have revealed.

A Freedom of Information request has unearthed exactly how many times Glaswegians’ queries to local councillors were referred to Glasgow City Council officers.

The data shows Langside residents, who are represented by council leader Susan Aitken and councillors Tanya Wisely, Archie Graham and Anna Richardson, had 2300 calls escalated to local authority staff from last December to November this year.

A total of 138 queries remain open.

Hillhead had the second-highest number of reports with 1892 queries, 138 remain open.

While the north east ward, which includes areas such as Easterhouse, Ruchazie and Hogganfield and is represented by councillors Maureen Burke, Ruairi Kelly and Mandy Morgan, had the lowest number of referrals with just 339 sent to officials.

The nature of the calls has not been revealed, however, it’s understood councillors made the decision to escalate the queries to officials after requests were made by constituents.

The data for other areas throughout Glasgow are as follows: Linn reported 975 queries with 44 still open; Newlands/Auldburn made 963 queries with 46 still open; Greater Pollok had 1046 queries reported with 44 not yet closed; Cardonald made 820 queries with 40 still open; Govan made 848 queries with 29 still open; Pollokshields made 1568 queries with 111 still open; Southside Central made 1222 queries with 62 still open; Calton made 522 with 43 still open; Anderston/City/Yorkhill made 1124 queries with 129 still open; Victoria Park made 932 queries with 49 still open.
