DRIVERS are being warned of heavy traffic on a busy Glasgow motorway following a two-vehicle crash this afternoon.

Officers responded to the scene on the M8 westbound near junction 26 (Arkleston) after the alarm was raised shortly after midday.

Two lanes on the carriageway were temporarily closed but have since reopened. 

Police confirmed the vehicles have now been moved and that the Scottish Ambulance Service did not attend.

Drivers are being advised to approach with care as traffic in the area is heavy. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.05pm on Saturday, January 22, officers were called to a report of a two car road crash on the M8 westbound near to J26. 

"The vehicles have been moved and Ambulance were not required to attend."
