HOUSEBREAKING and weapon crimes have fallen across Glasgow, according to the latest figures released by Police Scotland.
Data from April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, shows the number of housebreakings recorded was 1254.
A total of 1675 was recorded during the same period the previous year.
In January, we reported a mobile police office had been set up after several homes had been targeted by thieves in South Nitshill.
Cops were deployed to Whitacres Road to provide public reassurance and encourage anyone with information to come forward to help with an ongoing investigation.
A local policing officer said there had been a “number of high-value housebreakings in the area”.

Meanwhile, the latest police figures showed offensive weapons offences dropped from 2975 to 2833.
Figures also show the number of attempted murders dropped by seven to 48 and robberies and assaults with intent to rob decreased by 40 to 333.
Chief Superintendent Mark Sutherland, Divisional Commander for Greater Glasgow, said: “We are committed to working in partnership to approach policing and violence in a public health way and have also added tackling poverty as a division-wide priority.
"Our officers may be best placed to identify those with complex vulnerabilities and able to refer them to the most appropriate agency or third-sector partner for the most appropriate support.
“The reduction in offensive weapons offences is pleasing. However, we acknowledge that there is no room for complacency and our officers will continue their hard work to apprehend anyone in possession of weapons.
“Officers across Greater Glasgow work hard to keep our communities safe and I would encourage the public to continue the positive level of engagement and support given to us, this meaningful insight helps to inform and shape the local policing service we deliver.”
