Sacred Tum Tacos made a surprising announcement on social media today telling customers that they would be shutting the doors of their Southside shop.

The taqueria has been a smash hit since it opened on Victoria Road often selling out of menu items by the afternoon.

Owners took to Instagram today to announce that they would be closing up at the end of the month to take a break from the business until next year.

They wrote: "Announcement. We're taking a little break over the winter, Sunday, October 23 will be our last day trading until the New Year.

"It's been a wild few years, with Covid and everything we've barely stopped - definitely not complaining"

"We're overwhelmed for your constant support and enthusiasm for us, we can't thank you all enough for keeping us going.

"We'll be back in the New Year after spending some time in Mexico, centring our trip around Yucatan, Oaxaca and Mexico City States, so if you have any food recommendations please drop us a comment below.

"We have big plans for 2023 and are looking forward to embarking on the year revitalised and inspired.

"We think you'll be into the changes we'll be making but in the meantime we'll be here until Sunday 23rd, serving up all the favourites.

"Big Love!"

Speaking to the Glasgow Times today, owners explained further: "We're a small independent, owner-operated business and need a break, we've been working flat out for years and the winter is always a quiet time for us so it makes sense to take a break when we can.

"We're heading to Mexico to do some research in order to grow and expand into tortilla production in the new year."
