GLASGOW City Council has warned members of the public not to skate on frozen ponds this winter.

The news comes after comedian Paul Black took to social media to rant about skaters who descended upon Queen's Park in previous years.

Today, the local authority quote tweeted the comedian's clip and wrote: "As much as it's tempting, do not skate, attempt to cross, walk or play on ponds, or any frozen bodies of water.

"No matter how solid it might look, you have no idea how unstable it actually is. With extremely cold weather forecast, please stay safe and stay off the ice."

We told last year how a boy, aged 12, fell into the water after the ice cracked on January 5.

Police then cleared everyone else off after being called to the scene.

Figure skaters and ice hockey enthusiasts had spent hours on the ice in the previous days.
