A KIRKINTILLOCH primary with "wonderful community spirit" has given school inspectors a resounding thumbs up following a positive report.


A team from Education Scotland praised Holy Family Primary School for the “effective teamwork” of staff and “children who are polite and support one another thoughtfully".

The report also said pupils are “proud of their school and their achievements” and the head teacher and staff “know children and families well”, adding: “Together they have developed positive relationships across the school community.”

Holy Family’s nursery team was also applauded as “highly reflective” and “continually striving to improve learning experiences for children".

Councillor Lynda Williamson, East Dunbartonshire Council’s convener of education said: “The year has kicked off to a great start for Holy Family Primary School and Early Years Centre. There was a real buzz about the place when I visited to congratulate the staff and children on their recent inspection report.”

She added: “It is evident the children thrive in the wonderful community spirit which is encouraged and embraced by the staff and wider school community.

"Staff have worked hard to make improvements to approaches to learning and teaching and this is reflected in the levels of attainment across the school and early years centre. Everyone at Holy Family should be very proud of their achievements.”

Headteacher Andrew Gallagher said: “We are all very pleased with the inspection report and are extremely proud of our thoughtful, considerate children and our effective teamwork in creating a nurturing learning environment in which our children can thrive.

"We will continue working together as a team to pursue improved learning outcomes and achievements for all our children across both the early years centre and primary school.

“It is an exciting year ahead and I am looking forward to building on this report and seeing Holy Family Primary and Early Years Centre go from strength to strength.”
