Glasgow’s Janey Godley has hit back at trolls who claim she is ‘faking cancer’ and ‘should die quicker’.

The 62-year-old comedian is fighting ovarian cancer which sadly cannot be cured, but she is continuing chemotherapy in a bid to control it.

Now she says she has been taunted on Twitter for her illness forcing her to “spend days” blocking tormentors.

The mum-of-one noticed an increase in abuse after Nicola Sturgeon gave her a shout out for one of her funny videos.

Janey Godley said: “Anytime Nicola Sturgeon mentions me in a tweet, I have to spend days blocking men.

“Yes it’s all been men with mostly footie accounts telling me ‘I’m ugly, faked having cancer, not funny and should die quicker’.

“Imagine sh*** Nicola Sturgeon gets on a daily basis from these utter clack w*****.”

We previously reported how Janey dubbed a hilarious voiceover of Nicola Sturgeon’s resignation announcement.

The Glasgow comic shared the clip on Twitter with her 286k followers after the First Minister confirmed she would be stepping down earlier this week.

The classic voiceover, which became popular during the pandemic, got thousands of likes as fans were left in stitches.

This included the First Minister herself who said: “Thanks to Frank for his door service over the years…and to the wonderful Janey Godley for always making me laugh, even in the toughest times.”

The footage had her share potential retirement plans including taking Zumba classes, breeding budgies, and living in a caravan.

She rounded off the video by finishing with the famous catchphrase: “Frank, get the door!”

We also previously reported how Janey is sadly no stranger to abuse online as one troll previously taunted her terminal cancer.

She quickly shut down the user who told her “you're meeting your maker soon, don’t forget” by calling out the callous behaviour and wishing them a “good day".

“Janey responded by saying: “I will be remembered for being a strong rape survivor, a good mother, a supportive human - you will be remembered for trolling a woman dying of cancer on a social media platform - I wish you peace and love as it always wins over hate.”

Many of Janey’s 285,000 followers swarmed to her defence and sent messages of support.
